WEDDING ADVICE

Understanding your wedding photography budget

The newlyweds exchange a glance as they walk, the bride lifting her dress slightly.

Comparing two wedding photography proposals starts with a simple question: are they describing the same service?

A total alone does not tell you when the photographer arrives, which moments are covered, how the images are prepared or what you will receive. Before comparing prices, I suggest comparing the scope. You can then choose with a clearer understanding of the place photography will have in your day.

I am not offering an average market price for weddings in Camargue here. Your schedule, locations and priorities are more useful for building a proposal than figures that do not describe your plans.

Coverage and the moments it includes

Start with the intended start and finish times. “The day” can mean very different things. Preparations through to drinks, or the ceremony through to the party, need different planning and tell different parts of the story.

Ask which moments fit within the hours, how travel is taken into account and what happens if your schedule changes. An evening photograph in a portfolio does not mean that evening coverage is automatically included in every collection.

I explain these choices with illustrative timings in How much photography coverage does your wedding need? The point is to understand what will actually be photographed before deciding how long to book.

What the €1,490 starting price means

At Wild Wedding House, wedding photography starts at €1,490. The L’Histoire collection corresponds to approximately 7–8 hours. It includes preparation discussions, photography within the agreed scope, image selection and editing, a private online gallery and high-resolution files.

We build the schedule around your timings and journeys. Part of the preparations, the ceremony, portraits, drinks and possibly part of the reception may fit. Every stage through the first dance is not guaranteed within that time.

Any travel arrangements and conditions are specified in the proposal before booking. The starting price is a clear reference point; it does not replace a proposal shaped around your project.

Two loved ones help the bride adjust her hair and dress, in black and white.

The work around the wedding day

The presence on the day is the most visible part. Discussions beforehand help me understand your priorities, the practicalities of the venues and anything that needs a little planning. That might mean agreeing on groups or identifying a sheltered space.

Afterwards, I select and edit the photographs into a coherent story, respecting their light and appearance. Comparing only the hours on the day leaves that work out. Equally, a long list of deliverables does not replace a photographic perspective that feels right to you.

Look through a developed selection such as From preparations to the party. Notice the gestures, portraits, guests and changing atmosphere. It helps you decide whether you connect with the whole story, beyond a single cover photograph.

Gallery, files and delivery: ask for clarity

A private gallery and high-resolution files are part of the service described here. The number of photographs depends on the story and selection; I do not state an identical image count for every day. The expected delivery schedule is specified in the proposal’s terms.

Before booking, make sure you understand how the images will be delivered, which files are included and the conditions that apply to your collection. A clear written answer is more useful than an assumption based on a website or a broad phrase.

Travel and drone photographs

I am based in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer. Your wedding location and the journeys between its stages need to be understood before the proposal is finalised. Do not assume that a particular distance, journey or overnight stay is included unless it is specified.

Drone photographs are possible only where the weather, location and regulations allow. They are not a promise of aerial views at every wedding. They also do not mean a wedding film is included: my service is photography.

Questions to keep beside your proposals

  • Which moments and hours are covered?
  • Are travel arrangements and conditions specified?
  • What preparation discussions are planned?
  • What do selection, editing and delivery include?
  • What delivery schedule is stated?
  • What booking conditions and provisions for changes are written down?

With those answers, the budget becomes easier to understand. You are comparing a presence, a perspective and an expected result, with clear limits.

Tell me your date, the places you are considering and the moments that matter most. I can reply with a proposal whose contents make sense to you, without adding things your day does not need.
